In total, there are over 800 straight lines, 300 geometric figures and 70 animal and plant designs which are called biomorphs. The lines are discovered in a region of Peru just over 200 miles southeast of Lima, close to the modern town of Nasca. A 2,000-year-old mystery lies in the country's landscape with massive shapes called the Nazca lines that come into view from the air. But there is much more in this region than that. What you expect to see is probably the dull pale sameness of the rocks and sands. Imagine yourself soaring in the high desert skies of southern Peru on a plane.

The consciousness of wider Australia is shifting. Stories have the potential to divide us, but they also have the power to strengthen connection and community. Our world was (and continues to be) colonised through storytelling.
These systems are shaped by the narratives and mindsets that people hold. Like government, education, media, business, the legal system and dominating societal norms. When we talk about ‘systems’ of society we are talking about the processes, institutions or structures that shape the way we live. ‘Systems’ are the large, broad parts of something – rather than the individual, one-on-one aspects. The work we do at Common Ground is about changing these systems so they centre First Nations ways of thinking, being and knowing. These systems do not consider First Nations voices and solutions. Since 1788, Australia has been largely shaped and governed by colonial narratives and systems of power. We face many challenges, but ignore many of the solutions that First Nations people hold. Common Ground exists to bring connection, truth and deeper understanding through storytelling.Īustralia is built on a story that ignores its true history.
